Adult literacy
As part of our mission to support adult literacy,
we hosted events, talks and reading groups
to promote confident reading. Author visits
and archive-based talks provided new ways
to experience stories and original materials.
Regular monthly reading groups removed
barriers for adult learners, allowing them to
enjoy reading together, build their skills and
share ideas.
We aim to inspire people of all ages
to learn, imagine, create and share
ideas.
Theatre for Younger Audiences
Partnerships bring culture to every library,
including our gateway sites. At Huntington
Library, a collaboration with the Pauline
Quirke Academy of Performing Arts saw young
performers create original plays for preschool children and their families. Across four
performances, around 500 people watched
children confidently perform in the imaginative,
upbeat productions.

“This is a lovely library. We’ve never
been in before, and we only live
down the main road. We’re definitely
going to use it and come again.
Very impressed.”
