Reading Groups across

Championing reading for adults
We offer adults different opportunities to
explore poetry, classics, crime and general
fiction together.
Finding the Words
Improving the online
reading experience
We introduced a new on-line library catalogue
this year integrating our e-library and physical
library into one seamless online entry point
with the goal of showcasing all our collections
and improving and streamlining access for
customers. This change will maximise use of
our book stock, offering new choices of both
content and formats.
Issues of e-library and e-audio books
continued to climb in 2024-25, and the trend
first seen during the pandemic shows no sign
of declining. Physical book issues continue to
rise as well.
To keep up with demand for
e-library items, we introduced
an additional e-library provider
BorrowBox to offer new
choices and different
titles and complement
the Libby collection.

Explore Annual Review 2024/25
Finding the Words is a monthly online poetry
event, where people can discover work by
poets from around the UK and beyond. Regular
audience feedback highlights how much the
online events are valued for their accessibility,
the high quality of the readings, and the warm
atmosphere we create. “Thank you, Explore,
for keeping poetry alive in the city.” “Don’t stop
doing these readings – they’re immaculate!” We
held 7 sessions this year with 240 attendees
and 2025 will mark the tenth anniversary of
Finding the Words.
