Explore York Libraries and Archives Annual Review 2024-25 - Report - Page 18
Our NPO programme was focused on the
community of Acomb in 2024-25.
“As an older person living alone,
and having been through some
difficult years, I was moved and
warmed by the fun and kindness
in everything we did.”
History Misbehaves:
Time Travel Radio
Part of the
NPO Programme
We invited Acomb residents
to collaborate with director
Kate Valentine and playwright Paul Birch to
create a light-hearted community radio show
inspired by Explore York archives and the rich
history of Acomb. The show was broadcast on
Jorvik Radio with an estimated audience reach
of 300k and was also syndicated to podcast
platforms.
“Even though I am disabled - in a
wheelchair and not being able to
see - they adapted things so I was
involved.”

Part of the
NPO Programme
AI Visionaries Youth Club
enabled 11–16-year-olds to explore
the intersection of creativity and artificial
intelligence. They brought their ideas to life
through hands-on sessions with AI-generated
art, animation, and storytelling.
