involved, made a difference and
helped shape Explore in 2025-26
One of Explore’s core strengths is the people who shape our work and
direction – from our leadership team, staff and volunteers to firsttime visitors, frequent users and our inspiring partners. This is truly a

After celebrating our 10-year milestone in 2025,
we approach the next decade with a focus
on dynamism, flexibility and collaboration.
Building on the solid foundation established
over the last decade, our task now is to expand
the great work we have already started and
invigorate the cultural and literacy heartbeat
of the communities we serve. Our work centres
on sustaining a virtuous circle of engagement,
empowerment and shared benefit.
• Donated or fundraised

• Stepped out of their comfort zone and tried

• Donated books.
Thank you to our partners, including
City of York Council and Arts Council
England.
Looking ahead, we are focusing on
sustainability, modernisation and
custodianship of our archives. We will continue
to build on our position as a trusted partner,
curator and innovator in the local community.
